The Add Knot tool adds a knot to a path. You must first ensure the path is selected; see Selecting knots, segments and paths. Then click where you wish to add the knot. The knot is added so as not to change the path's shape.
The Remove Knot tool removes a knot from a path. You must first ensure the path is selected; see Selecting knots, segments and paths. Then click on the knot you wish to remove. Director will try not to change the path's shape - but sometimes it cannot do so, because the knot you removed was essential to define the shape. If necessary, you can undo your deletion by choosing Edit > Undo.
You can also delete knot(s) by selecting them (see Selecting knots, segments and paths), and then pressing the Backspace key. If you select all the knots on a path, then this deletes the entire path. The disadvantage of this method is that you can instead delete other objects, such as keyframe markers - but at least you can undo any such accidents.
To move knot(s), select them (see Selecting knots, segments and paths) and then drag them. If you select all the knots on a path, you'll move the entire path.
You can also use the keys on the numeric keypad to move the selected knots to their desired position a pixel at a time:
If you also hold down the Shift key, then each keystroke instead moves the selected knots five pixels.
If you move the knot you're dragging very near to another knot, it will "snap" to the other knot, so the two knots are in exactly the same position. This is useful for lining up or joining two paths.
